Social Subjects

Here at Dyce Academy S1 and S2 pupils study Geography, History and Modern Studies under the one name – SOCIAL SUBJECTS.

By studying all three subjects as Social Subjects we feel our pupils learn to recognise the links between the subjects which in turn helps them gain a more thorough understanding of topics we cover. Pupils still know whether they are studying Geography, History or Modern Studies and learn to identify  their own strengths and areas of interest. While they are doing this we help them target areas they need to focus on as they progress towards subject choices at the end of S2.

Classes meet in Rooms 308 and 309 (the ‘Open Plan Area’) which is conveniently located directly above the School Library. Pupils make use of the library on several occasions during their studies as we promote individual research skills as part of the course.

The Social Subjects teachers are Mrs Farquharson, Mr Ferguson, Miss Forrest and Miss Robertson.

The aim of this Blog is to let you know what your child is studying with us and how you might help them get the most from their learning.
